Bio
Tamara Sangdow is a Thai-American Director and Creative Director based between New York and Bangkok with 12+ years of experience. Her passion for storytelling began at the age of 11, when she would borrow her mother’s cameras to capture the world around her, observing life through images and emotions. Her experience in photography and art, combined with her background in music, laid the foundation for her storytelling approach rooted in rhythm, visual identity, and emotion.
After relocating to New York to study Fashion Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Tamara refined her creative voice through roles in creative and production, leading to positions at Vice Media and later Condé Nast as a Creative Director. She has since led award-winning campaigns for brands including Pitchfork, GQ, Vogue, Teen Vogue, The New Yorker, WIRED, and Them, and now works on a project basis, partnering with brands to develop and lead campaigns.
Her directorial work spans narrative film, documentary, commercial, music video, fashion, and concert films. She has directed for brands including Singapore Tourism Board, Häagen-Dazs, Glossier, MGM Resorts International, and SK-II.
In 2020–2021, she was selected to participate in Sundance Collab workshops for Directing and Screenwriting. In 2022, her Creative Direction work for Pitchfork, The New Yorker, and Them earned her and her team a Gold Telly and a Bronze Clio Music Award, and she was named a Young Guns finalist for The One Club’s COLORFUL Award. In 2023, she developed her short film Echoes of the Night at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival under the mentorship of Barry Sabbath. The film premiered in December 2025 at the 20th edition of the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival in Yogyakarta.
